ICOM launches 4th Survey on Museums and Museum Professionals and Covid-19 Covid-19
Throughout the different phases of the Covid-19 pandemic across the globe, ICOM has been tracking the short- and long-term impacts of the health crisis and its accompanying safety measures through an open and anonymous online survey for museum professionals.
Participate in the 2022 survey
Read our reports from 2020 and 2021 to learn about how museums managed the most acute moments of the Covid-19 crisis across the globe. For example, through these surveys, we were able to measure how in 2020, while museums suffered enormous losses of revenue, many of them did not have any access to emergency relief funds (50% of respondents). At the same time, we saw that museums showed leadership and innovation in digital communications as a result of the crisis, a trend already underway before the pandemic. In 2021, more than half of respondents actively engaged their publics online in new formats for the first time, and 75% were already planning on rethinking their digital strategy for the future.
The Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact museums and museum professionals. Help us learn more and advocate for museums globally by contributing to the 2022 survey!
