“Respect in museums: inclusive practices, co-creation, restitution and more” Call for ICOM-ITC grants. These will be the topics of the next workshop of the ICOM International Training Centre for Museum Studies (ICOM-ITC), which will be held in Beijing, China, from 17 to 25 April 2024.

In its 14th edition, the training program will bring together Chinese and international participants and lecturers to engage in discussions and share insights on fostering inclusion and diversity, emphasizing the significance of co-creation, restitution, and other relevant topics.

Aligned with the ICOM-ITC training method, the program will blend practical and theoretical elements through lectures, group activities, discussions, visits to local museums, and a full-day excursion to cultural heritage sites in the capital.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – CRITERIA

Only ICOM members meeting the following criteria can apply to this programme:

• Being an ICOM member in good standing, which means having paid their ICOM individual membership dues for two consecutive years including the current year of application (i.e. 2022 and 2023) or, in the case of a new or reinstated ICOM membership, having paid membership dues for the year of application (i.e. 2023);
• Occupying middle-management position in a recognised museum or public institution;
• Aged 45 years or under, by 31 December 2024;
• Being fluent in both written and spoken English.

While the primary focus of the ICOM-ITC training workshops is on ICOM members from emerging countries, applications from individuals in other countries may also be considered.

To complete your application, please provide the following information in English:

• Curriculum Vitae: Provide a one-page maximum document detailing the applicant’s training, work experience, publications, and current work responsibilities.
• Application Form: Ensure the Application Form is fully completed.
• Motivation Statement: Include a statement expressing your motivation for participating.
• Letter of Recommendation: Obtain a letter of recommendation from the director of your institution.
• Proof of Payment: Submit proof of payment for the 2023 membership fees, including a copy of the card with the 2023 sticker or an official document from the National Committee.
• Passport Copy: Provide a copy of the first page of your passport. Note that your passport must be valid until at least November 30, 2024.
• Motivation Statement Responses:

1. How do your current responsibilities relate to the workshop topic? (1500 characters maximum)
