Special recognition of Tbilisi Museums Union activities at the 2023 competition of the European Museum Academy Awards, News
We would like to extend congratulations to the ICOM Institutional member – Tbilisi Museums Union for its Special Recognition Award at the EMA 2023 Awards by the European Museum Academy. The jury recognizes, that “Bringing Tbilisi museums together with their collections, educational programs and activities to inspire visitors to think about historical and societal challenges, the winning museum creates a museum network using history and collections and connects society with modernity. Tbilisi Museums Union shows a creative approach to knowledge development, interpretation and social responsibility and takes into account the complex geographical and historical context in the presented museography”.
On September 14-16, 2023, the conference of the European Museum Academy and the awarding ceremony were held, within the framework of which the jury identified three awards – the art museum award – M.A.K – Museum of Modern Art; DASA Award – Hungarian Money Museum, Budapest; Luigi Micheletti Award – Danish Refugee Museum – and winner of two special awards: Tbilisi Museums Union (Georgia) and Kyiv National Museum of the history of Ukraine in the Second World War (Ukraine).
The European Museum Academy – EMA was founded in 2009 and unites experts from various areas of the museum field, leaders of European museums, theoreticians of museum and exhibition work, curators and others. Every year, the Academy of European Museums, as a result of the competition, awards museums, museum institutions and individuals for advanced activities in the course of the interpretation of art and cultural heritage, increasing access to the public.
