New chair and Executive Board of ICOM Georgia elected at General Meeting Network

On 9th April 237 members out of 384 gathered at the ICOM Georgia’s General Meeting for an update of recent activities, approval of the edited statute and to vote on the executive board members and new chair. GM was held at the Georgian Museum of Fine Art, Tbilisi.

The announcement about the GM and election  was distributed before the meeting via emails to the members and published on the official website.

Short report on ICOM Georgia General meeting:

  • Honor, Remembrance and special appreciation was expressed to Prof. Dr. Inga Karaia, chair of ICOM Georgia Board for her leadership and immeasurable merit to ICOM Georgia and the whole museum community.
  • The edited version of the Statute of ICOM Georgia has been presented and recent changes in the document has been highlighted at the General meeting. After the short discussion the new statute was approved by 231 members against 6;
  • The short report on the activities of the ICOM Georgia (2020-2021) has been presented;
  • Nineteen people had nominated themselves for the position of executive board of ICOM Georgia. 226 members have voted on secret ballot. In accordance with Article 11, Paragraphs 11.1 and 11.2 of the new Statute, the following 11 candidates with the best results in the elections were elected as members of the executive board of ICOM Georgia: Lana Karaia, Nino Sanadiradze, Mariam Chkhaidze, Elina Valaite, Irine Giviashvili, Salome Guruli, Manana Tevzadze, Maka Kvaratskhelia, Ana Shanshiashvili, Irakli Khorbaladze, Nino Khundadze.
  • Ten new elected board members (1 member Ana Shanshiashvili was absent) have unanimously elected Lana Karaia as a new chair of the committee.

On April 19, 2022, the new statute of ICOM Georgia and the documentation on the Executive Board were legally registered in the Public Service Hall of Georgia.

Congratulations to the new Chair and the members of the Executive Board of the ICOM National Committee in Georgia for being elected to this responsible positions for 2022-2025. A gratitude and appreciation is addressed to the previous Executive board of ICOM Georgia for the important work done.
